I was recently asked this question: What can you tell me about using Essential Oils? It was a simple question from a friend who knows I am a “user”. She is where I was 3 years ago – heard about this stuff and wondering if she should explore adding them to her life.
So, I began thinking it over and trying to put into simple words my how and why. Here goes:
All my life I have tried to live a healthy lifestyle with exercise and healthy, real foods. Notice I said “tried”. Exercise – most days I walk and sometimes I lift weights. Healthy foods – some days I eat five fruits and veggies and low fat/high protein. But, let’s face it, there are so many things that can get in the way of our good intentions! There are good books to read and movies and series to watch. And, so many amazing tasty foods calling to us.
In addition to (usually) watching my diet and exercising I have always tried to find natural and alternative ways to support my health. Nontoxic cleaners, organic gardening, natural personal care items, supplements for body systems, and whole foods.
Three years ago I started seeing stuff about essential oils as part of a healthy lifestyle on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. It caught my eye and my interest. After doing some research I started using a few oils from the local health food store – lavender for relaxation, tea tree for my complexion, and peppermint for focus. And then . . . I saw a great deal on the Young Living Premium Starter Kit. I joined up with Young Living, got my kit and a wonderful reference book and became part of a supportive and informative Facebook Group. And the rest is, as they say, history! Today I use Young Living Essential Oils, supplements, and other products all day every day. Every now and then I’ll hear a Young Living person say that it has been life changing. Since I’m not one for hyperbole I always ponder those words and every time I conclude “yes, it really is!”
